Turtle Mountain wins
IPA Challenge

American Beer Month NicoTurtle Mountain Brewing of Rio Rancho won the second New Mexico IPA Challenge. Owner Nico Ortiz hoists the trophy, won last year by Blue Corn Albuquerque, Friday (July 25) at Second Street Brewery in Santa Fe.

The three day competition involved "blind" voting after drinkers tried samples of each of the nine India Pale Ales available. The serving order changed each evening, so if you are curious about what you were drinking when, check out the complete list. IPA Challenge details.

The Compleat MeadmakerThe Compleat Meadmaker
Brewers Publications has just published The Compleat Meadmaker by Ken Schramm -- home production of honey wine from your first batch to award-winning fruit and herb variations. It truly is compleat, to the point of offering lots of information on using chile in mead. The book is 30% off at Amazon.com and if you use this link (or click on the book) to order then the Dukes receive a small kickback.
